I often wish I had a camera mounted atop the cab of my truck so I could get some shots of the egrets that catch fish in the old mill pond and surrounding waters next to the highway I travel several times a day. Often they will fly right in front of me, fish in their claws, heading in the same direction, wobbling for balance and occasionally dropping their catch in the road or median. This can be fatal for them, as they come back to get the fish and often are hit by a passing vehicle. The state Game and Inland Fisheries folks have strung netting over the nearest ponds, which has cut down the aerial traffic considerably, but not completely. It is a fascinating sight. Great shot! We saw an Osprey at Scarborough Marsh yesterday carrying its lunch, but it was much too far away to get a shot.
