  2. How do you get these fantastic pictures? Are you just sitting quieting outside waiting for a bird to fly by? Do you just shoot continuously hoping to capture something spectacular like the one above? I'm truly amazed!

  5. Lunchlady 2 and I Love Life, thank you both the the rates and comments and compliments. ILL, the answer is that I spend a lot of time doing it. But, I also live right on the ocean, which gives me an advantage. My deck overhangs a ledge. If I'm on the deck, I'm at eye level with birds that are cruising the shore line. This crow was flying right by in my face, practically. Now, I have worked really hard to get good crow shots for a long time, that I'll say. They are very wary and cagey and not easy to photograph, though they are ubiguitous. And, to get one flying with nesting material is very lucky. I put a lot of time into being fast with the camera and having the right exposure settings for subjects like this. Oh, and I take a ton of images that go into the trash, too!

Robin, I was especially pleased to see it wasn't a hawk.

  8. Woooowwwwww... I am in awe of photographers who get good shots of birds. I once was sitting on top of a ridge and a raven flew by at eye level and I swear by all that is holy, it chuckled at me and then flipped over and flew upside down for a second or two, and then flipped back over. This was long before I got into photography. Can you imagine getting a shot of that? Gaaaaahhhh!

  10. Sarah, I absolutely believe you as I've seen crows, ravens, eagles and osprey do that same aerial manuever. Now, as for the chuckling......yes, that too from crows and ravens. And one day, maybe I'll be lucky enough to get that shot, too! Wish me luck! Thanks for the view and rate and comment, oh - and high regard!

  11. Thanks. This has been such a compressed Spring here. The jingle should have been "March showers bring April flowers." The azaleas and dogwoods are on their way out. R

  13. hyblaean-J, Rodney and Sumac, thanks to all of you for the views, rates and comments. I'm really pleased that this image has been so well recieved! I thought it was great, but then I thought, "Ah, who will care about a crow?" Besides me. But, as it turns out, loads of you do and that's a wonderful thing! Rodney, we have not had one lick of rain here. It's like Texas. Normally, in April when I garden, I have to chisel the mud from my work shoes. Not now. In fact, I had to water my gardens today. Very very odd. The birds are in the bird bath which is unusual at this time of year. And, I've had to fill it, too.
