FLYday - Bald Eagle and Herring Gull Fight

Adult Bald eagle being harassed by Herring Gull, Phippsburg, Maine, May 2012

FLYday is an homage to what our feathered friends do best, fly.

I took this shot on the end of our pier, 120 feet out into the ocean. I was wearing my bathrobe.
On my photography web site, you will find almost 8,000 images of Maine taken by me.

  1. What a fantastic image to capture... well done.

  2. Birding in my bathrobe is one of my favorite ways to bird, though I don't do it very often here. Great shot! I was just in Maine last weekend and just posted photos today. I am glad you are an eBirder in Maine since many areas there do not have many eBirders! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!

  3. Fantastic capture. Looks like they are screaming at each other!

  4. Andrew, Kathie and Hilke, thanks to you for the comments and views. I agree, Hilke it looks like they are screaming. Hey! I think they were!

  5. Outstanding!

  8. jmac1949, M.C.S, and I Love Life, thanks so much to you all for the views, rates and compliments. I am very lucky to live in an incredible place that gives me these opportunities nearly every day. I also was photographing seals mating and fishing at the same time that this food fight between the gull and eagle was going on.

Seagulls are tough guys! Urban seagulls, even tougher. Good luck if you're trying to eat your lunch on a bench near the water in Boston.

  12. I love the grandeur they possess. Taking pictures in a robe, this I can relate to. Nothing like the comfort. Rated with a Jali smile of course. :-) If you have a chance, please check out my last post and see what you think. Thanks doll.
